For Patients Considering Weight Loss Surgery
We hope you are achieving lasting success in your weight loss journey and kicking your goals.
To help provide additional value and acceptance in the hospitality world, for patients who have had weight loss surgery, we have introduced a MEAL AND MEDICAL ALERT CARD for you. The use of this card is purely voluntary.
Like any other medical alert card, in the event of a medical emergency, this card will alert any treating physician or paramedic, of you having had gastric surgery.
The information on the card specifically states the procedure you have had i.e. gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy. This information would be of consideration while delivering medical care.
One of the issues that people (who have had weight loss surgery) face when dining out, is requesting smaller portion size of meals they can choose from the adults menu. The restaurant managers would want them to choose items from the “kids menu”, which are generally unhealthy and very greasy. The concept of this MEAL CARD will allow you to order items from the adults’ menu, in a smaller portion size (hopefully at a lower price as well).
We are however, still in the process of working with the hospitality industry on this concept of “BARISERVE”- which is based on a better understanding of the needs of individuals, who have had weight loss surgery and their inability to have a full adult portion meal. Until this becomes universally recognised and acceptable, the restaurant owners/managers can refuse to abide by this, at their own discretion.
We wish you all the best towards wellness and good health and hope you see value in these cards.
